Primary

Primary students don’t just solve questions from their textbook during Numeracy lessons. They actively get opportunities to engage with concepts through hands-on activities and interactive use of the board as a learning tool. In Grade 3, the students learnt addition and subtraction of positive and negative numbers on the number line.

The sports team led the first DLRC community trek to Sinhagad Fort on June 29th. Around 40 participants — students and parents — went from the DLRC campus to Sinhagad and trekked up the fort. Children as young as six were part of the group, some of them unaccompanied by parents! The trip, which lasted from 6 am to 3 pm, was well-organised and highly appreciated by all the participants. The sports team took special efforts to ensure that everyone had healthy food during the course of the trek — fruits, pithla-bhakri with curd, and bajra bhel. Monsoon trekking, which entails walking among the clouds between bouts of sunshine and rain, is indeed a Pune luxury. The next community trek is to Visapurla.

Launched last year, ‘TED for Teens’ offers students a platform to speak confidently on topics they are passionate about. This initiative encourages curiosity, research, and effective communication. For instance, Aarav Iyer from Grade 10 took the floor with an engaging talk on “How Speakers Work: The Science Behind Sound”. His insightful presentation combined technical knowledge with enthusiasm, inspiring peers and showcasing how passion can power great public speaking skills.

High

Grade 6 students did woodwork as a hands-on practice in the Design Lab to explore the working principles of woodworking tools and techniques. The experience aimed to spark curiosity while developing hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. It also helped students understand how everyday tools function, encouraging them to connect with multiple subjects and apply this knowledge creatively in real-life situations.
