Excitement runs high when the students have a handwork lesson because children love using their hands for creating and learning. Our Grade 2 students have been learning to do cross-stitch to make coasters while choosing their designs. Handwork lessons enhance fine motor skills, encourage creativity and imagination, cultivate patience and persistence, and promote focus. Additionally, they provide a sense of accomplishment, and offer a therapeutic outlet for stress and emotions.

Spotlight

Ten members from the Pune city team of Teach for India, a nationwide movement to create education equity, visited the DLRC campus to observe, learn, and exchange best teaching practices. They engaged with our facilitators and students and shared their feedback with the team. Among the opportunities and practices that stood out for the team were TED for Teens, the co-facilitation model, and how DLRC takes learning beyond the classroom with our open, natural environment, blurring the boundaries between the classroom and real life experiences. The TFI team also appreciated the campus for allowing students to be children, fostering emotional freedom, play, and age-appropriate autonomy.

Grade 9 students visited the R.K. Laxman Museum as part of extended learning experiences related to their IGCSE History and Art & Design curricula. The History students analysed the socio-political commentary in the comics of the legendary cartoonist while the Art & Design students explored his cartoon sketching style. It was truly a hands-on experience for the students to study and sketch comics in the museum.

The Dance Enrichment Club offers students an opportunity to explore and express themselves beyond academics. It helps them develop creativity, confidence, discipline, and a deeper appreciation for diverse art forms. Students learn various dance styles, blending tradition with innovation, while building teamwork and stage presence. They also get to showcase their talent at different school events. In the picture, Grade 7 and 8 students are seen gearing up for the Independence Day performance — a vibrant fusion of classical and contemporary dance forms.
