Primary

The students of Transition became different characters while doing the play ‘Gajapati Kulapati Kalabaloosh!’ based on the picture book by the same title, written and illustrated by Ashok Rajagopalan. They listened to the story during their Language Development lesson, and then they spent two weeks understanding different scenes and practising their lines. The dynamic and engaging nature of acting in a play requires children to pay close attention, improving their focus and ability to concentrate apart from building confidence. They performed this play for Grade 1 and Grade 2 students as well as their parents.

Spotlight

Musical evenings are no longer the exclusive privilege of senior students! Paying heed to the longstanding demand of students from younger grades, DLRC hosted its first Monsoon Musical Concert for Grades 1 to 6. Stirring instrumental music ranging from the santoor to the violin, and favourites old and new such as Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” and the K-Pop hit number “Takedown” wowed the audience that clapped and sang along. There were 20 performances in total — meticulously chosen after auditions by the music facilitators. Despite the power playing truant towards the end of the concert, the enthusiasm never waned. Here’s to more such musical afternoons!

Middle

On 22nd August 2025, as part of their Semester 1 study tour, students from Grades 9 to 12 visited the National War Memorial in Pune, built in 1997 to honour martyrs of post-Independence wars. Students immersed themselves in reading the names of martyrs and exploring exhibits on the Southern Command’s history, battles, and honours. A particularly engaging experience was the army officer’s interactive session on outdoor exhibits, including tanks and aircraft. After a paintball activity and a much enjoyed shared lunch, the tour concluded with students sharing their pride and appreciation for the sacrifices of the armed forces.

High

Grade 6 students, along with their Homeroom facilitator Imam Sir, led the Middle School Assembly on an important and much-needed topic: “The Difference Between Sex and Gender”. The session was very well received, with over 60% of the students sharing that they had learned something new and valuable.
