About the event
“Children have the immense capacity for concentration and hard work when they are passionate about what they are doing.” - John Taylor Gatto
During these changing times, where access to knowledge is just a click away and children’s curiosity has no bounds; one can see a growing need to shift from a teacher driven learning approach to a more child led or self-driven one. The learner thus needs opportunities to take charge, plan and steer their own learning.
This self-driven approach is an integral part of DLRC curriculum. Last year, a novel immersive program on Self - Directed Learning was implemented in the month of March. Students immersed in a self-chosen project for three weeks which culminated with a presentation. This program was well received by the students and their parents. One could see the excitement, focus and rigour with which students worked on their projects. These self-chosen projects ranged from learning to plant vegetables, knit, play guitar, make paper planes, car models, automatic dispensers, volcano models to researching on topics in science, technology, history, sociology, economics etc.
This year taking a step forward DLRC Extended Experiences is inviting children from other schools, homeschoolers and unschoolers to participate in this exciting journey for 3 weeks, and immerse in gaining knowledge about something they are curious about, creating something or developing skills in an area they are interested in.
The three weeks of learning will also give students the opportunity to
