Pune’s identity is incomplete without its iconic Ganeshotsav or Ganesh Festival. Lokmanya Tilak and his contemporaries started the public celebrations of this traditional festival more than 125 years ago in Pune. Since then the fest has gone through cultural, political, social as well as environmental transformations.
Join us on 15 September, Sunday, 7 am to explore the stories, anecdotes and histories of the iconic Ganesh Mandals as well as some lesser known. Through the walk we will explore the older areas of Pune city and dive into its evolution from the lens of this festival.
This is our second edition of the Ganpati Festival walk, and we aim to cover many new locations this time. That is why, even those who attended our walk from last year should register.
Main attractions - The 5 Manache Ganpati, Dagdusheth, Tulsibaug, Mandai, Belbaug temple, Lokhande talim, Jagobadada talim, Bhau Rangari Wada, and many other unique Ganesh Mandals.
